Meet the Doctors

Southern Eye Associates in Jonesboro has remained in the forefront of ophthalmologic practices in this region of the country for over thirty years. We house a general ophthalmic practice, ambulatory surgery center and a laser vision correction center. The doctors, nurses and technicians of Southern Eye Associates help to comprise a devoted team of experts who are skilled in all aspects of modern ophthalmology.

Southern Eye Associates performs microsurgical procedures such as radial keratotomy, PRK, LASIK, clear lensectomy, and advanced cataract surgery. We also specialize in glaucoma and retina problems. Dr. Thomas M. Stank

THOMAS M. STANK, M.D. MEDICAL DIRECTOR
 
Dr. Thomas M. Stank is a native of Pennsylvania and has lived in Jonesboro, AR, for the last 15 years. He and his wife are the proud parents of their son, Thomas M. Stank,II.
 
Dr. Stank graduated magna cum laude from the University of Pennsylvania with a degree in bioengineering and was also elected to the Tau Beta Phi national engineering honor society. He completed his medical degree at Penn State University where he received the Sandoz Award for recognition of superior academic achievement and contribution to health care. He completed his residency in ophthalmology at the University of Pennsylvania in 1989 and also completed fellowships in glaucoma and oculoplastic surgery in 1990.

Dr. Stank has performed several thousand microsurgical procedures specializing in cataracts, glaucoma, and oculoplastic procedures. He is also certified in the use of the VISX Star S4 Active Trak Excimer Laser for refractive surgical procedures. Dr. Stank is certified as a Diplomat of the American Board of Ophthalmology, and a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, the American Medical Society and the Arkansas State Medical Society. He is one of four ophthalmologists in Arkansas certified by the American Board of Eye Surgery in both Refractive Surgery and Cataract Surgery.
 

Dr. Thomas M. Stank

MATTHEW W. MARGOLIS, D.O.

Dr. Matthew W. Margolis has lived in Jonesboro, AR for three years, moving here from Little Rock. He was born in Hollywood and was raised in Los Angeles, California where he graduated high school. He and his wife, Dr. Tad Butler, are the proud parents of their son, George.

Dr. Margolis graduated magna cum laude from Southern Oregon University with a degree in biology. He was nominated to Phi Kappa Phi honors society and received the calculus scholar award. Dr. Margolis graduated medical school with honors, ranked #1 from the University of North Texas Health Science Center, Fort Worth, TX. He was nominated for the president’s list all semesters and received the Golden Brain award and numerous other awards for academic achievements. He completed his residency in Ophthalmology at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS), Little Rock, AR in 2005 and was certified as a Diplomat of the American Board of Ophthalmology in 2006. He is a fellow of the American Academy of Ophthalmology and has been licensed by the Arkansas State Medical Board since 2002.

Dr. Margolis has performed over 1000 microsurgical procedures and is an expert in new technologies. He specializes in cataract, glaucoma, oculoplastic and refractive procedures. He is certified in the use of the VISX Star S4 Active Trak Excimer Laser with Iris Registration and in the use of ReSTOR, ReZoom, and Crystal Lens intraocular implants.

 
Dr. Roger D. Baker ROGER D. BAKER, OD

Dr. Roger D. Baker is a native of Grubbs, Arkansas, a graduate of Arkansas State University and a graduate of Southern College of Optometry in Memphis, Tennessee. Dr. Baker has had a full time practice in Jonesboro since 1980.

Dr. Baker is a member of the Arkansas Opctometric Association and is certified by the Arkansas Board of Optometry in diagnostic and therapeutic eye care. As a Medical Optometrist, Dr. Baker concentrates on the diagnosis and management of ocular diseases. As the refractive coordinator for Southern Eye Associates, he provides each patient with the requisite, preoperative screening and postoperative care in all refractive surgery.
 
Dr. Bart C. Jones BART C. JONES, OD

Dr. Bart C. Jones hails from Bono, Arkansas. He is a graduate of Harding University and Southern College of Optometry in Memphis, Tennessee. He and his wife have one son and have resided in Jonesboro for ten years.

Dr. Jones is a member of the American Optometric Association and is certified by the Arkansas Optometric Association. He is certified by the Arkansas Board of Optometry in diagnostic and therapeutic eye care. As a medical optometrist, Dr. Jones concentrates on the diagnosis and management of ocular diseases.
